List of preservation groups
While most of the passenger carriages in use on the SVR are owned by either SVR(H) or The Severn Valley Railway Charitable Trust, most of the locomotives, goods wagons and the remainder of the carriages are owned by various other groups.
Preservation groups formerly associated with the SVR
- The 2251 Fund, bought GWR 2251 Class 3205 for preservation.
- The 5164 Preservation Group (ownership of GWR Large Prairie 5164 transferred to the Erlestoke Manor Fund).
- The 17410 Fund (ownership of GWR 17410 'Toad' 20T Goods Brake Van transferred to the Charitable Trust)
- Bridgnorth Footbridge Trust (existed between 1989 and 1998 to raise funds for the construction of the new Hollybush Road Footbridge.
- Britannia Locomotive Society, supporting body of The Steam Locomotive Preservation Company Ltd, owners of BR Standard Class 7 70000 Britannia
- The German Tank Fund raised funds for locomotive DRG 64 305, resident on the SVR from 1975 to 1977.
- Hampton Loade Locomotive Fund (existed between 1973 and 1998 to support the acquisition and restoration of former resident GWR Large Prairie 4141)
- Hinton Manor Fund (ownership of GWR 7819 Hinton Manor transferred to the Charitable Trust)
- The Historic Rolling Stock Group, owned several vehicles resident on the SVR in the 1970s.
- The Invicta Locomotive Preservation Society, owners of 417 Invicta, resident on the SVR between 1972 and 1975.
- Kidderminster Shunter Fund (ownership of BR Class 11 12099 transferred to the Charitable Trust)
- L.M.S. & B.R. Coach Fund (now a department of the Charitable Trust following transfer of ownership of carriages)
- Ruston 906 Group (Diesel locomotive 37906 no longer resident on the SVR)
- Somerset & Dorset Loco Company (Diesel locomotives D8059, D8188 and 20177 no longer resident on the SVR)
- Southern Locomotives Limited (Steam locomotive 34053 Sir Keith Park no longer resident on the SVR)
- The Stanier Black 5 Locomotive Preservation Society, owners of 45110 from arrival on the SVR in 1970 until purchase by SVR(H) in 1975. Locomotive no longer resident.
- The Steam Locomotive Preservation Company Ltd, owners of BR Standard Class 7 70000 Britannia
- SVR P-Way Diesel Fund (Diesel locomotive BR Class 25 D7633 no longer resident on the SVR
- The Waterman Railway Heritage Trust (Steam locomotive 6634 no longer resident on the SVR)
- The Worcester Locomotive Society (Steam locomotives GWR Pannier 5786 and Kitson & Co 5474 'Carnarvon' no longer resident on the SVR)
- The Barry Railway Carriage Trust (Restoration of Barry Railway Carriage 163 at Hampton Loade between 1992 and 2024)
- The 6000 Locomotive Association were based at the Bulmer Railway Centre at Hereford where they helped support the SVR's main line operations.
