SVR Class 14 Company Limited

SVR Class 14 Company Limited ("the Company") was incorporated on 21 October 2014 as a private company limited by shares.[1] The Company owns diesel locomotive BR Class 14 D9551 and BR Class 07 D2996.
By 2013 the SVR had acquired examples of the other surviving Western Region diesel hydraulic classes (classes 35, 42 and 52). It had also seen two other visiting Class 14s at Diesel Galas, D9516 in 1988 and more recently D9520 in 2011. A group (originally styled the Severn Valley Railway Class 14 Diesel Group) carried out a search for a suitable example. D9551 was inspected at Deeside on 2 September 2013 and subsequently acquired from its private owner. It arrived at Bridgnorth on 25 November 2013, quickly gaining the nickname 'Angus' after its previous home.[2] The nickname is no longer used by its owners.
On 19 January 2026 the Company annonced that they were becoming the new owner of BR Class 07 D2996 which would relocate to the SVR and be based at Bridgnorth. The Company was launching an urgent fundraising campaign to raise £40,000 to support its acquisition, transport and future maintenance. Also, as part of a provisional agreement between the SVR and the SVR Class 14 Company Limited, the Class 14 team had agreed to take on the care of basic maintenance of SVR-owned Class 08 D3586, based at Bridgnorth.[3]
The purchase of D2996 was completed after the £40,000 was raised by 52 individual supporters. The locomotive worked for the last time at Barrow Hill on 4-5 April before moving to the SVR in late April 2026.[4]
