80776 in service and preservation
BR Mark 1 Gangwayed Full Brake (BG) 80776 was built by BRCW in 1956 to diagram number 711 of lot number 30140.
80776 arrived on the SVR in November 1986 from Bristol. It was heavily rebuilt with components from Open Seconds and Corridor Seconds to achieve a conversion to a passenger carrying vehicle for up to 16 wheelchair users. Seating is provided for 15 accompanying passengers, and a disabled access WC is included. 80776 won the Association of Railway Preservation Societies, “Coach of the Year” award upon completion in 1995.
80776 is normally used in the BR Crimson & Cream running set, and until 2016 was owned by the SVR Wolverhampton Branch. However in that year it was sold to the SVR Charitable Trust for safekeeping and further conversion to a "Wheelchair Diner" providing much needed access to the SVR's Dining Services.
