D2960 in service

D2960 is one of a number of 165 h.p. diesel shunters at the SVR, and is one of the diesel-mechanical variety. It was built by Ruston and Hornsby of Lincoln as works number 281269 of 1950, and was used by the British Sugar Corporation (BSC) at the Foley Park factory.

D2960 in preservation

D2960 was purchased from BSC by SVR(H) in September 1983 and driven to Kidderminster shortly after the SVR acquired the final section of track. For a time the locomotive carried a fictitious BR number of 11510 with black livery, but it has retained the “Silver Spoon” name plates from BSC ownership. D2960 is used as the carriage works shunter at Kidderminster.
