Is this page needed, as the loco is on hire? For consistency other Diesel Locomotives hired by the SVR and Steam Locomotives hired by the SVR would need pages - currently CFPSClass 40 Preservation Society, Class 33/1 Preservation Company, Great Western Society and Locomotive Services - but also DeanWilliam Dean, Chief Locomotive Engineer of the Great Western Railway 1877-1902 Forest et al in respect of previously hired locos? My though is not to, for this and all the others. Thoughts?--Patrick Hearn (talk) 18:01, 23 September 2019 (UTC)

On reflection it's probably not needed. I certainly wouldn't back fill for hires already gone and wouldn't create similar pages for short term (few month) hires like GWSGreat Western Society and LSL. With longer hires it's sometimes difficult to know where the cut off to becoming a resident is, like the hire of 1450 from Pull Push Limited for example. Maybe the general approach should be:
  • Resident locos - a page for the loco, with a separate page for the owning/support group where they have an SVRSevern Valley Railway connection (ie not Sandwell Council, for example!)
  • Hired locos (longer hires than just gala visits) - a page for the loco with information on the owning/support group included as appropriate, no separate page for the owning/support group.
  • Gala guests - no page for the loco due to the sheer number involved.
I'll add a bit of D05 info on the 37688 page pending any other thoughts. Unless anyone is in favour of keeping this page, I'll then delete it in a day or so. Further thoughts welcome.--Robin (talk) 19:43, 23 September 2019 (UTC)
Seems sensible to me--Patrick Hearn (talk) 23:11, 23 September 2019 (UTC)
