On June 25 in SVR history.
- 1883 The Board of Trade Inspector approved the new signal box and sidings at Highley.[1]
- 1904 Wolverhampton Engineman, George Mitchell, was struck by lightning, falling and losing consciousness, while walking at Kidderminster. Taken to the shunter's cabin, he was pronounced "OK" by a doctor.[2]
- 1908 The original McKenzie and Holland lever frame at Bewdley North signal box was replaced with a 37-lever GWR horizontal tappet frame.
- 1965: The 'Kidderminster Shuttle' reported that BR had withdrawn the 8.30am 'Cathedrals Express' service from Kidderminster to London, which lead indirectly to the eventual SVR preservation movement.[3]
- 1967: Another 'Open Weekend' took place at Bridgnorth on 24-25 June. The event featured traction engines, a miniature railway and other attractions as before, although there were no engine movements. Despite poor weather, around 2,000 people attended and £225 of funds were raised.[4]
- 1972 Hudswell Clarke Diesel Shunter D577 Mary arrived on the SVR by road from Hindlow
- 1988 The Kidderminster Coalyard Miniature Railway was formally opened by SVR General Manager Michael Draper. The original 5in and 3½in gauge lines were replaced by the present 7¼in gauge track in 1989.[5]
- 1994 The SVR staged its first 40s weekend.[6]
- 1998 SVR Patron HRH The Duke of Gloucester visited the SVR. 46443 hauled the 'Royal Train' which included LMS Saloon 999503 and GW 80969.[7]
- 2007 Nick Ralls joined the SVR as General Manager, six days into the emergency following the 2007 Storm Damage.[8]
- 2008 HRH Prince Michael of Kent presented SVR Chairman Michael York with the Transport Trust's 'Preservationist of the Year' award[9].
- 2022: The planned Step Back to the 1940s weekend was cancelled due to predicted coal shortages.
- 2023: Sunday of the first Step Back to the 1940s weekend.
