}}Bogie Bolster / Rail Carrier DB 996730 is one of 95 built for BR by Cravens of Sheffield in 1950 to the former GWR 40 ton ‘Gane A’ design, of which the SVR’s [[GWR 60841 Bogie Bolster | 60841]] is an example. The 60ft length allowed standard length rails to be carried. It was never vacuum-fitted, which led to an early retirement.<ref name=SB9>SVR Stock Book Ninth Edition</ref><ref>Railway Heritage Register Wagon Survey</ref>During the BR era, the Western Region commonly continued to use GWR-era Telegraph codes for Civil Engineers wagons rather than adopting the 'fish' codes used elsewhere<ref name=Larkin>[[Bibliography#Other References|Larkin Vol 1 (2011), p.54.]]</ref>.
