}}Bogie Bolster / Rail Carrier DB 996730 is one of 95 built for BR by Cravens of Sheffield in 1950 to the former GWR 40 ton ‘Gane A’ 'GANE A' design(Diagram J29), of which the SVR’s [[GWR 60841 Bogie Bolster | 60841]] is an example. The 60ft length allowed standard length rails to be carried. It was never vacuum-fitted, which led to an early retirement.<ref name=SB9>SVR Stock Book Ninth Edition</ref><ref>Railway Heritage Register Wagon Survey</ref> During the BR era, the Western Region commonly continued to use GWR-era Telegraph codes for Civil Engineers wagons rather than adopting the 'fish' codes used elsewhere<ref name=Larkin>[[Bibliography#Other References|Larkin Vol 1 (2011), p.54.]]</ref>.
