• 1977 Silver Jubilee Week on the SVR was celebrated with trains named 'Silver Jubilee' and 'Elizabethan'.
• 1992 The SVR's first 'Thomas the Tank Engine' event began, bringing nearly 17,000 visitors over the two days.
