Just a sense check, was Brian Whithurst the outgoing Treasurer of the *WLA* in 2006? I've been a WLA member since c. 1975 and don't recall him, and though stranger things have happened it seems incongruous for the WLA Treasurer to be writing about a share transfer between the 6000LA and SVRH? - Good spot, thanks. Also, although the printed letter in 2006 was signed 'Brian Whithurst' I believe his name is actually 'Whitehurst'. Dodd (1987) states that when the original enthusiasts' organisation became the 6000 LA, Brian Whitehurst handed over to Bernard Staite as Secretary. Brian says in the letter in SVR news that "As I still 'do a bit' in Kidderminster Carriage works..."; there are several mentions in other issues of SVR News around that time of a Brian Whitehurst in C&W.
