GWR 3429 Fruit D Van

[[File: GWR_3429_20150307.jpg |thumb|200px300px|right| GWR Fruit Van 3429]]This long wheelbase ‘Fruit D’ Van is a GWR design and was built by BR at Swindon in 1950. In service it was steam heated and electrically lit with power from an axle driven dynamo and chassis mounted batteries, similar to the system used on passenger coaches. Being capable of running in passenger services, it was allocated a number in the coach series in accordance with GWR practice.
It was acquired in the 1970sSeptember 1973, and originally intended for loco spares storage, but is now situated at Highley adjacent to the [[Highley signal box | Signal Box]].
