On July 2 in SVR history.
- 1949 The LMS, and later BR, regularly ran excursions from Birmingham and the Black Country to Bewdley and Stourport. Ex-GWR Large Prairie No 4116 was photographed at Bewdley on 2 July 1949 with the empty coaching stock of an excursion from Walsall.[1]
- 1955 Ex-GWR 4 6-0 No. 7810 'Draycott Manor' was photographed crossing Dowles Bridge with a goods train, running tender first.[2][3]
- 1971: SVR Chairman Andrew Marsden-Smedley wrote a personal letter to the SVR membership calling for all members to support a resolution altering the structure of the Railway Company to enable money to be raised by the issue of share capital. On the same day, a meeting of former committee members of the Severn Valley Railway Society took place. Concerned by these developments, they discussed forming a Severn Valley Railway Association to protect the interests of the members.[4]
- 2022: The planned Step Back to the 1940s weekend was cancelled due to predicted coal shortages.
- 2023: Sunday of the second Step Back to the 1940s weekend.
