  • 1845 An abortive attempt to launch a Welsh Midland Railway in the Severn Valley was advertised.[1]
  • 1968: The 3-day Easter Steam Gala on 13-15 April featured No 3205. Large crowds resulted in long waiting times, hindered by the lack of a run round loop and sufficient coaches. It raised around £600. At this time galas operated with the tacit approval of BR.[2]
  • 1989 BSK 35467 arrived on the SVR having been acquired by a group of SVR members. At the time the carriage was in BR blue and grey livery[3].
  • 2018 50007 Hercules and 50049 Defiance took the 'Cumbrian Hoovers' charity railtour from Birmingham to Carlisle and return.
  • 2019 Barriers and parking charges came into use on the new Bridgnorth car park.
  • 2021: Six new livestream cameras were launched on YouTube to provide 24/7 coverage of SVR stations to viewers across the globe.
  • 2023: Friday of the Spring Steam Gala which attracted 5,000 paying passengers over the three days. The guest locomotives were GWR 4079 Pendennis Castle, GWR Small Prairie 4555 and BR Standard 2MT 78018 Borough of Darlington.
