The reservoirsidings opened in January 1939 to serve Alveley Colliery, which is managed by Severn Trent Waterwas located across the river. After passenger services north of Bewdley ended in 1963, was opened the sidings remained in use for coal traffic until the colliery closed in 1968 and covers 29 acres1969. It The area is open to now the public and is used by the Trimpley Sailing Club, while other activities include angling, wildlife watching and walkingsite of Country Park Halt.
