- 1972 The SVRSevern Valley Railway signed an unconditional contract with BRBritish Rail or British Railways to buy the southern section of the line between Alveley Sidings and Foley Park for £74,000. A section of the Stourport Branch from Bewdley through Mount Pleasant Tunnel was also included.[1]
- 1972 GWR 89 Riding/Dormitory Van from Worcester and GWR 9103 Nondescript Saloon from Danygraig, Swansea both arrived on the SVRSevern Valley Railway.
