B 707261 began life as a Container Flat (CONFLAT A), built by BRBritish Rail or British Railways at Ashford in 1957.[1] It was later converted for use as a crane runner for Hand Crane GWR 446, the crane and runner being numbered I/U 060982 and 060983 respectively.[2]

The hand crane and crane runner arrived on the SVRSevern Valley Railway in December 1982 from Bristol, having been acquired by The GWR 813 Preservation Fund.[3] Both spent some time stored in the ‘Stourport Triangle’, the junction of the Stourport Branch and the present day SVRSevern Valley Railway south of Bewdley. In January 2019 it was announced that the crane was to move to Arley for cosmetic restoration as a static display, while the crane runner will be swapped with a GWRGreat Western Railway flat wagon that will better suit the crane.[4] In March 2019 the crane and runner were moved to Bewdley and in May to Arley.

The GWRGreat Western Railway 813 Preservation Fund expect the vehicle will move to the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway.[5]
