  • 1951 Stourport South signal box was taken out of use by BRBritish Rail or British Railways.
  • 1974 Bridgnorth was demoted to rural borough status, losing its powers to spend money maintaining the footbridge outside the station. The bridge was demolished in 1976 and not replaced until 1994.
  • 1985 Steam Railway magazine published the notorious City of Truro "April fool" article.
