43989 was the first of 51 four wheel tank wagons constructed between 1894 and 1911 to Diagam DD3, with the 3108 gallon tanks being built in 1894by the GWR locomotive department. Owned by <br>Originally intended for carrying oil, creosote and similar liquids for departmental use, after almost 100 years, it ended it's working days storing engine coolant at Reading Diesel Depot until being sold to [[The GWR 813 Preservation Fund]]in the early 1990s.<ref>http://www.gwr813.org/gwr813newsletter_A1.htm</ref><ref>A history of GWR goods wagons.
