GWR 'Loriot L' machine truck 42272 was built ended its working life in Departmental use at Swindon in 1934 to Diagram G13, Lot 1142Reading. It was one of only seven built between 1926 acquired for preservation in 1981<ref>gwr813.org</ref> and 1934arrived by rail on the SVR in February 1982, being finish painted on arrival. The type 'L', <ref name = "SVR9" /><ref>SVR News 66</ref> An overhaul was carried out in 1988-89 which has a 15 ton capacity, has outside involved inserting welded patches in the frames and a deep wellrenewing the steel plates at each end.
