The design of this LMS 9ft wheelbase van was based on a 1911 Midland Railway 10ft wheelbase van, although it was built at the former rival LNWR company works at Wolverton in 1928. The ends were built with vents, which were removed during departmental service.[1]
It arrived on the SVR on 12 February 1993 from Banbury.[1] It was considered in good condition, requiring only repairs to one of the sliding doors and a quick repaint before entering service.[2] The van was used in an episode of Oh Doctor Beeching! at Arley in 1996, when it supposedly contained a lion.
The photograph shows the van at Bewdley in 2015. It is privately owned.[3]
