Chris Walton
Christopher Wareing (Chris) Walton (b. January 1952) became interim chairman of SVR(H) in March 2023, in succession to Mike Ball.
Chris has been actively involved with the SVRSevern Valley Railway since 1969, initially with the Stanier 8F Locomotive Society.[1] He began as a volunteer in the Locomotive Department, before transferring into the Operating Department where he progressed through Ticket Inspector, Guard, Signalman and Assistant Station Master before becoming Bridgnorth station master in 1981, a role that he held for 33 years until 2015. He became an SVRSevern Valley Railway(H) director in 1983.[2]
Before retiring as a chartered management accountant, he held roles at senior management level across several leading automotive companies, including Tata Motors (Jaguar Land Rover).
