DB 992329 is a 4-wheeled 17-ton steel ballast hopper, Telegraph code 'MACKEREL', TOPS code ZMV. It was built in 1951 by Metro Cammell to Diagram 1/583 Lot 2284.[1]
The 'Mackerel' was vacuum braked with a single central hopper door operated from an end platform.
The only information suggesting this wagon is (or was) at the SVR is from the Railway Heritage Register Wagon Survey, which states that it was inspected at the SVR in August 2006, but does not include a photograph.
Sequentially numbered Wagon DB 992328 was photographed at the Midland Railway Centre in 2009 (after the date of inspection of DB 992329 at the SVR). A photo on Flickr of DB 992328 in 2014 clearly shows that it carries the works plate DB 992329. It is therefore possible that the same wagon was at the SVR for a time before moving to the MRC. Any further information to clarify this would be appreciated.
