Nabarro's impact on the SVR may perhaps be summarised by two subsequent articles in SVR News. Reporting Nabarro's death in SVR News, his successor as Guarantee Company Chairman Richard Dunn wrote "I pay personal tribute to his outstanding courage and energy in the promotion and ultimate success of our public flotation in April 1972 without which we might not have secured the Southern Section of the line."<ref>SVR News 30</ref> Later in 1989, a tribute by [[Bill Broadbent]] to his successor noted “How fortunate we were on the SVR that [[The Earl of Lindsay|David Garnock]] was able and willing to succeed Sir Gerald Nabarro as Chairman, and in the next three years heal the deep wounds of division within the organisation, thus setting the Railway on its subsequent course of unbroken progress<ref>SVR News 93</ref>.
