This looks like a diesel but is actually a steam engine, technically a Vertical Boiler Tank Engine with chain driven wheels and gears ([[Whyte notation]] 4wVBT VCG). It was built by '''Sentinel & Sons (Shrewsbury) Limited as works number 9387 of 1948, and originally used by Roads Reconstruction of Frome, Somerset. The last owner ''' was present on the Hanson Group, and until early SVR from 2015 9387 was on static display outside their Tytherington Quarry in Gloucestershire-2016 for cosmetic restoration work.

The locomotive looks like a diesel but is actually a steam engine built by Sentinel & Sons (Shrewsbury) Limited as works number 9387 arrived on the SVR in March 2015 for cosmetic restoration work to be carried outof 1948. Sentinel incorporated small, vertical water-tube boilers which powered multiple-cylinder, high speed enclosed engines. The cylinders were actuated by poppet valves and the final drive was photographed at either by chain or cardan shaft. This locomotive is a 100 hp Vertical Boiler Tank Engine with chain driven wheels and gears ([[Bridgnorth Loco WorksWhyte notation]]4wVBT VCG). ==9387 in service== Whatley Quarry<ref group="note">Still active as Hanson's biggest quarry, producing around six million tonnes of aggregate a year.</ref> in Frome, Somerset was operated by Frome Rural District Council until around 1930. A number of companies in the area subsequently combined to form Roads Reconstruction (1934) Ltd.
