The SVRSevern Valley Railway archives were set up in 2009 and are held in an upstairs room at The Engine House.

The archive room holds a vast collection of information dating back to the earliest days of the SVRSevern Valley Railway’s preservation. It includes every copy of SVRSevern Valley Railway News, every timetable and promotional booklet, plus many old SVRSevern Valley Railway posters and timetables and a large collection of press cuttings from 1965 onwards.[1]

The SVRSevern Valley Railway Archive has an informal agreement with Kidderminster Railway Museum that any documents donated to either organisation relating to the SVRSevern Valley Railway in the preservation era will go to Highley, while any relating to the railway pre-preservation, go to Kidderminster.

Sample posters from the archive

The Archive also holds a large collection of photos, mainly of the SVRSevern Valley Railway in the preservation era.

As of 2022 work is progressing on cataloguing these photos with the intention of making them more widely available. The images below link to a selection of pages of thumbnail images with descriptions to give a preview of what will be available when the work is complete.

Any enquiries about these or other items held at the Archive should be addressed to archive@svrlive.com
