Railcar 22.

The Great Western Railway introduced Diesel Railcar units in the 1930s to replace steam on smaller branch lines. They continued in use until the 1960s, and were used from time to time on the Severn Valley Railway.

Railcar 22 is owned by the Great Western Society at Didcot. The Society’s Railcar spent much of the 1970s on loan to the SVRSevern Valley Railway, and was used on the inaugural services to Highley and Bewdley in 1974.
