Peter Copsey became acting interim Chairman of the Charitable Trust in 2020, succeeding John Leftwich.

After graduating in law at University College London, Peter served his articles in the Black Country and qualified as a solicitor in 1979. He joined mfg Solicitors LLP (then MortonA type of brakes used on GWR wagons after Grouping in 1923, replacing the earlier DC (Dean Churchward) types. Fisher) in 1984 and is an LLP Member (Partner) in the company commercial division of that firm. His practice is company and commercial law issues such as mergers and acquisitions, general commercial advice and contractual matters, though these days mainly commercial property.[1][2]

He has a wealth of charity experience from his active involvement with several building preservation trusts and as clerk to a large educational charity. Peter lives and works in Kidderminster and has long been a regular visitor to the SVRSevern Valley Railway.[3] He became a Director of the Charitable Trust on 3 October 2016[4].
