Members & Shareholders Weekend

Traditionally held each spring, this event began as an annual 'Members Day'. The first Members Day advertised in SVRSevern Valley Railway News 'forthcoming events' was on 1 April 1995, featuring an increased train service with visits and displays behind the scenes for SVRSevern Valley Railway members. In 2005 the invitation was extended to SVRSevern Valley Railway shareholders with a second day being added to become the Members & Shareholders Weekend. Kidderminster Railway Museum holds complementary activities.

Replacement by 'Open House Weekend'

During the event the 'behind the scenes' exhibits such as the Bridgnorth Loco Works were open to the general public as well as members and shareholders. In 2016 the event was renamed the 'Open House Weekend' to reflect this, with additional attractions including model railways at Kidderminster Railway Museum and the Engine House.

2024 Supporters’ Day

In 2024, in addition to the Open House weekend, a special Supporters’ Day was arranged for Friday 21 June, a non-public service day, open exclusively and free-of-charge to SVRSevern Valley Railway shareholders, members and Charitable Trust donors as a way of the Railway showing its gratitude to all those who supported it through the turbulent previous few years.

Peep Behind the Scenes

From 2010-2017 a second event, Peep Behind the Scenes, also allowed visitors a chance to see some areas of the railway that are not normally open to the public.
