Traditionally held each spring, this event began as an annual 'Members Day'. The first Members & Shareholders Weekend Day advertised in SVR News 'forthcoming events' was on 1 April 1995, featuring an annual event held up until 2015 which allowed all visitors, not just increased train service with visits and displays behind the scenes for SVR members and .<ref>SVR News 113</ref> In 2005 the invitation was extended to SVR shareholders, with a chance second day being added to see some areas of become the Members & Shareholders Weekend.
