It has been on loan to The Class 50 Alliance the SVR from the Railway Museum (formerly the National Railway Museum) since 2018. Under their custodianship it has been returned to operational condition after spending many years on static display at the NRM in York and Steam in Swindon, and subsequently stored out of service at Tyseley Locomotive Works1981.
