A total of 74 were built by that Companyfor BR's Western Region between 1961 and 1964. It was preserved They had a short working life with the last members of the Class including D1013 being withdrawn in 1967 and used for shunting and works trains until early 1977. After some years on display at [[Kidderminster Railway Museum]] it is now undergoing an overhaul at Bewdley.
