The reservoir, which is managed by BR(W) at Swindon Severn Trent Water, was opened in 19511968 and covers 29 acres. It was one of a small batch of four first class sleeping cars destined for the London is open to Milford Haven route. All four survive in preservation, with two resident on the SVR where they have been public and is used for sleeping accommodationby the Trimpley Sailing Club, while other activities include angling, wildlife watching and walking.
