The reservoir, which is a Collett bow-ended Restaurant Third Open carriagemanaged by Severn Trent Water, originally built was opened in 1925 as part of one of the GWR's prototype articulated carriage sets 1968 and modified into its present form in 1936covers 29 acres. It has been on loan is open to the SVR from public and is used by the Railway Museum (formerly the National Railway Museum) since 1981Trimpley Sailing Club, while other activities include angling, wildlife watching and walking.
