The reservoir, which is a MINK A 10-ton 4-wheeled ventilated covered goods vanmanaged by Severn Trent Water, was opened in 1968 and covers 29 acres. It was originally preserved at the National Waterways Museum in Gloucester in 1990 before moving is open to the SVR in 2008. Since then it has regularly appeared in public and is used by the demonstration goods trainTrimpley Sailing Club, while other activities include angling, wildlife watching and walking.
