The reservoir, which is managed by Severn Trent Water, located close was opened in 1968 and covers 29 acres. It is open to the [[River Severn]] (Loade comes from public and is used by the Saxon word 'lode' meaning ford). On openingTrimpley Sailing Club, the station had only a single platform and a sidingwhile other activities include angling, with a second platform wildlife watching and signal box being added in 1880s.
