Like the Swindon test train which prototype, 9369 was an unclassified or 'nondescript' saloon used for load testing of diesel locomotives. The entire train was acquired for preservation in 1969private hire, and 1116 was one of the coaches used in although unlike the SVR's first public train hauled by [[3205]] on opening dayprototype, 23 May 1970it did not actually have toplight windows.
