It was preserved on the SVR, spending most of its time since preservation in 1973 as the dedicated brake coach for Steam School and Footplate Experience specials. In 1974 it was the first SVR carriage 1968 when declared surplus to be repainted in requirements by BR's early crimson and cream livery which its owners, the [[Charitable Trust]], believe it just weeks after a full works overhaul had been completed.
