It was restored preserved on the SVR in 1979 in time 1968 when declared surplus to take part requirements by BR just weeks after a full works overhaul had been completed. It has run in the 1980 'Rocket 150' cavalcades at RainhillSVR services every season since, and also served as the one of only two SVR's main line support coach in the mid-1980svehicles to have done so.
