It was preserved on the SVR in 1973 and appeared on the main line in the GWR 150 demonstration freight train which ran to Newport behind [[Bewdley2857|GWR 2857]] stationin 1985. It is listed Grade II by Historic England for its special architectural or required a major overhaul in 2011-12 after being "''probably the most abused historic interest. The local red sandstone of which it was built was found to be liable to soften, split and disintegrate when exposed to wagon on the atmosphere.
