Sterns GWR 40554 is notorious as a maintenance trouble spot due to the ground regularly slipping towards the river over the history special type of well wagon intended for moving chaired sleepers. It was preserved on the railway, especially after periods of heavy rain. A telegraph pole which stood next to SVR in 1973 and appeared on the main line in the late 1970s has moved significantly closer GWR 150 demonstration freight train which ran to Newport behind [[2857|GWR 2857]] in 1985.
