Sterns is notorious as a maintenance trouble spot due to the ground regularly slipping towards the river over the history northern end of Bewdley station, allows access between Platform 1 and Platforms 2&3. It dates from the railway, especially after periods opening of heavy rain. A telegraph pole which stood next to the line [[Kidderminster Loop Line]] in the late 1970s has moved significantly closer to the river since then and is now only just visible 1878.
