The term 'composite' refers to the use only surviving example of more than one the class of seating, in this case four first class compartments and three second class compartmentsis affectionately referred to on the SVR as 'The Flying Pig'. It built at Derby in 1961 but was slightly damaged in an accidentone of the SVR’s early locomotives, leading arriving 'light engine' direct from Lostock Hall on 2 August 1968. Since returning to an early withdrawal from service in 1977, 43106 has been a regular on the SVR as well as appearing [[The Severn Valley Railway on the main line |on the main line]] and at [[SVR-based locomotives visiting other events |gala events on other heritage railways]].
