The SVR can call on a working fleet of approximately 9 steam locomotives, 11 diesel locomotives (including shunters), a 5 car (3+2) DMU, 65 carriages and several many goods wagons.
There are several more Other steam and diesel locomotives, both steam carriages and diesel wagons are currently undergoing long term repairrestoration and overhaul. A list of these may be found [[Rolling stock currently under restoration | '''here''']].
The carriages are normally operated as five rakes of 7 or 8 carriages; one rake each of BR maroon (set M), GWR chocolate & cream (set G), BR crimson & cream (set C), LNER teak (set N) and LMS maroon (set L), plus a five carriage GWR chocolate & cream diner set (set S). The letters shown are used to identify the sets in working timetables etc.
