Hinton Manor Fund
From SVR Wiki
The Hinton Manor Fund was launched in spring 1972 with an appeal in SVRSevern Valley Railway News, selling £1 shares to raise funds to acquire 7819 Hinton Manor from Barry Scrapyard. The first chairman of the Fund was the late Ray Tranter.[1]
The locomotive arrived in January 1973 having been acquired by the Fund with SVRSevern Valley Railway Company help. In summer 1973, SVRSevern Valley Railway News reported that the Hinton Manor Fund had become part of the Great Western (SVR) Association.[2].
The SVRA Wolverhampton Branch was the largest shareholder in the Hinton Manor Fund and was instrumental in the decision to transfer ownership of the locomotive to the Charitable Trust in April 2004[3].
