9084 was built by BR(W) at Swindon in 1951, one of a small batch of four first class sleeping cars (SLF) destined for the London to Milford Haven route. They were built as Lot No 1702 to Diagram J18 and were a Hawksworth design, with the characteristic sloping roof-ends and flat body-side profile.
9084 was built As new these four cars were finished in 1951 BR crimson and cream, and bought by withdrawal in the SVR early 1970s had been repainted in 1970BR maroon. In 2007They had ten berths, each compartment having one bed with a sink, luggage racks, coat hangers, shaver points, it was bought from [[Severn Valley Railway (Holdings) PLC|SVR(H)]] by and forced-air heating. Each carriage also had a compartment for an attendant at one end and a lavatory at the [[Severn Valley Railway Charitable Trust Ltd | SVR Rolling Stock Trust]] for five poundsother.

9084 arrived on the SVR in October 1970 from London’s Old Oak Common, having been acquired by [[carriages Severn Valley Railway (Holdings) PLC | List SVR(H)]]. In 2007, it was bought for the nominal sum of carriagesfive pounds from SVR(H) by the [[Severn Valley Railway Charitable Trust Ltd | SVR Rolling Stock Trust]].  9084 is normally parked in the bay platform at [[Kidderminster]] station, where it is used for staff accommodation. It is finished in a non-original GWR 1942-47 livery, with the coat of arms insignia flanked by 'GREAT' and 'WESTERN'.
