Modifications included the blocking of the vents at each end. It was reconverted back to a standard goods van upon its return to the GWR in 1945. Originally built as an Iron Mink ==Preservation==58725 arrived on the SVR in 1896April 1977 from Cashmores at Great Bridge, 58725 was converted to an Improvised Gunpowder Van carrying the BR(telegraph code CONEW) number W 204988.<ref>SVR News 46</ref> Evidence of its SR livery was discovered during restoration in 1980,<ref name=SB9/> which mainly involved the replacement of a quantity of defective steelwork and loaned to the Southern Railway in 1938. Modifications included the blocking return of the vents at each end. It was reconverted back van to a standard goods van upon its return to the GWR CONE in 1945. The wagon later saw service post-war black livery with BR(W) and the Longmoor Military Railwaya red cross.<ref>SVR Stock Book 9th EditionNews 59</ref> It also carried the number W204988.
In 1985, 58725 arrived appeared on the main line when it was used in the [[The Severn Valley Railway on the main line#SVR Wagons used on the main line in preservation| GW 150 demonstration freight train]] which ran to Newport behind [[2857|GWR freight loco 2857]].<ref>SVR News 78</ref> 58725 received further repaints as a CONE in April 1977 from Great Bridge1997<ref>SVR News 123</ref> and 2011 (roof only). Evidence of its SR livery <ref>SVR News 175</ref> It was discovered most recently overhauled and repainted as a gunpowder van during restoration in 19802015, the work mainly involving new door lintels and replacement of the steel panels on two doors.<ref>SVR News 191</ref>.
