42138 was built at Swindon The wagon remained in 1909 service with the GWR and later BR(SVR Stock Book 9th Edition states 1908W) until 1984, when it was sent to Diagram G18, Lot 584[[Barry Scrapyard]]. It has a capacity of 15 tonswas rescued from there and arrived on the SVR on 16 August 1984. Examination revealed that the frame had previously cracked in two places and that welded repairs carried out by BR had begun to crack again. Originally designated a Loriot B, it was The defective welds were ground out and re-classified as welded, a Loriot D in 1909repaint carried out and the wagon released for P-Way service.<ref>SVR Stock Book 9th EditionNews 74</ref>, and as a "Lowmac WR" by BR post-nationalisation.
The wagon remained in service with In 1985, 42138 appeared on the GWR and later BR(W) until 1984, main line when it was sent used in the [[The Severn Valley Railway on the main line#SVR Wagons used on the main line in preservation| GW 150 demonstration freight train]] which ran to Newport behind [[Barry Scrapyard2857|GWR freight loco 2857]]. It was rescued from there and arrived on the <ref>SVR on 16 August 1984. News 78</ref> It is owned by [[The GWR 813 Preservation Fund]] and is one of only two surviving Loriot Ds.<ref> Railway Heritage Register Wagon Survey</ref><br>.
