The GWR 'Conflat' was a flat wagon originally designed to carry interchangeable wooden containers, which were secured using chains kept in pockets on the side of the wagon.  Container Wagon 39860 was built at Swindon in 1935. It last saw service at Swindon Works where it was used for transporting diesel motors to and from depots.

The GWRGreat Western Railway 'ConflatGWR telegraphic code signifying a flat wagon for containers' was a flat wagon originally designed to carry interchangeable wooden containers, which were secured using chainsAs a unit of measurement, 22 yards or 1/80th of a mile kept in pockets on the side of the wagon. Container Wagon 39860 was built at Swindon in 1935. It last saw service at Swindon Works where it was used for transporting diesel motors to and from depots.

It arrived on the SVRSevern Valley Railway from Swindon in December 1986 and was restored at Bewdley in April 1987. It was used in filming Oh, Doctor Beeching! at Arley in 1996.

39860 is owned by The GWR 813 Preservation Fund and is unique, being the only surviving 'ConflatGWR telegraphic code signifying a flat wagon for containers' wagon.
