Service

14983 was built in 1902 to Diagram CC.3, Lot 453.[1] 22 of these vans were built between 1902 and 1912, the design being based on the Iron Mink of the period but with a 6-wheel configuration and 24ft 6in body. It included windows in the sides and ends and skylights in the roof. Internally it was fitted with oil lamps and equipped with work benches and lockers[2].

Preservation

The van spent some years at Tyseley (formerly Birmingham Railway Museum).[3] It arrived on the SVR on 18 February 2019, having been acquired by The Kidderminster Railway Museum Trust as a long term restoration project.[4] As of October 2022 one set of end panels have been replaced and scaffolding is erected.
