It has been photographed at the Midland Railway Centre at Butterley between 1999 and 2002, at the SVR in 2007, and at the Llangollen Railway in 2009. DR73202 Plasser and Theurer 07-16 Universal Liner/Tamper is a type of self-propelled track maintenance machine developed to carry out day-to-day track maintenance work previously carried out by large numbers of plate-laying gangs. It combines the functions of Tamping (lifting sleepers to the correct level) and Lining (adjusting the alignment of rails).[1]

DR73202 was built in 1973 as works number 1041, and allocated BRBritish Rail or British Railways DepartmentalRolling stock used for the railway’s own functions (engineering etc.) rather than for general passenger or goods traffic. number DB965957.[2] It was initially allocated to the London Midland Region[3] In 1985 it was in use in the Birmingham area.[2]

It has been photographed at the Midland Railway Centre at Butterley between 1999 and 2002, at the SVRSevern Valley Railway in 2007, and at the Llangollen Railway in 2009. By 2011 it had returned to the SVRSevern Valley Railway.[4]. It is seen stabled at Highley and was in use 12/13 June 2019.[5] It was again in use on 23 July 2019 to tamp a section of track between Highley and Hampton Loade following repairs resulting from the derailment of 75069 by a fallen tree; the second picture shows it returning to Highley propelled by BR Class 37 37688 Great Rocks. By July 2020 it was reported "DR73202 is getting very tired and it has been decided to retire it as it is becoming unreliable.
